Title: Hiding the pain
materials: paper and pencil
Artist statement: As I worked on this piece I realized how much I've grown since a year ago in my skills and my courage. I think this piece has captured what I wanted it to. It captures the simplicity of how anyone can make a change and everyone matters. I think this piece was a success because I've finally managed to make something that captures all of the points I wanted to get across.

Title: Modern art project
Matherials: clay
Artist Statement: As I was working on this piece I was learning new techniques and using tools in new ways. I've never made a cup like this before so I think I made a good first attempt. I didn't get to finish it because there weren't enough things to fire at one time so it didn't get fired. I think if I had more time I could have finished it and made it look much better.

Title: Flying and falling
materials: canvas, acrylic paint
Artist statement: As I was making this piece I was thinking about how in life we feel like we're falling and we can't control it. We can feel as if the falling will continue forever. However there are people that can lift us up and make us feel like we can fly again, like we can do anything. I think that it's always important to remember that when we fall we come back even stronger.

Title: The Darkness Within
Materials: canvas, acrylic paints
Artist Statement: As I was making this piece I was thinking about how not all evil or darkness is visable from the outside. It's buried deep within and rarely shows itself. Sometimes the darkness represents pain or anger, but sometimes it can represent a failure to listen or a misunderstanding. To different people everything holds a different meaning. Kindness and passion hold these things at back. Things we enjoy doing everyday help keep the darkness at bay. The darkness can make us who we are or it can destroy us.
